Ian made its initial landfall in Florida on Wednesday as a Category 4 storm with winds just shy of Category 5, according to the National Hurricane Center.
It is expected to produce “catastrophic” storm surge, destructive winds and flooding rainfall, The Weather Channel reports.
Meanwhile, Ian knocked out power for 11 million people across Cuba after pummeling the country on Tuesday, per The Associated Press. Storm surge and tropical storm alerts also extend to Georgia and South Carolina.
