Vanessa Bryant awarded $16 million in damages over Kobe Bryant’s helicopter crash site photos

A federal jury on Wednesday ordered LA County to pay the Lakers legend Kobe Bryant’s widow $16 million in damages over the actions of first responders from the Fire Department and Sheriff’s Department who snapped and shared photos of human remains from the scene of the 2020 helicopter crash.

The crash killed Kobe Bryant, his 13-year-old daughter Gianna and seven other people. Co-plaintiff Chris Chester, whose wife Sarah and 13-year-old daughter Payton also died in the crash, was awarded $15 million in damages.
