Tom Brady confirms retirement from NFL after 22 seasons, seven Super Bowl wins

The quarterback confirmed on Tuesday that he would be retiring after 22 seasons.

“I have always believed the sport of football is an ‘all-in’ proposition — if a 100% competitive commitment isn’t there, you won’t succeed,” Brady said on Twitter. “This is difficult for me to write, but here it goes: I am not going to make that competitive commitment anymore.”

Brady, who played for 20 seasons with the New England Patriots, spent his last season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the decision to retire comes on the heels of a loss to the Los Angeles Rams in the playoffs.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said Brady “will be remembered as one of the greatest to ever play in the NFL.”
