Kamala Harris met with officials in Singapore on Monday, kicking off a visit to Southeast Asia intended to “deepen engagement with partners” in the region, according to the US embassy in Burma.
Harris and Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong announced various new initiatives in a joint press conference, including a high-level supply chain dialogue and agreements on cybersecurity and climate.
On Tuesday, Harris says China has used coercion and intimidation in the disputed South China Sea, stating their “actions continue to undermine the rules-based order and threaten the sovereignty of nations,” according to AFP and Bloomberg. In a speech in Singapore, Harris noted that US will pursue a free and open Indo-Pacific.
