Senate votes to deny additional witnesses in President Trump’s impeachment trial

Senators voted 51-49 to reject a motion calling for additional witnesses and documents in President Trump’s impeachment trial Friday, Jan. 31.

The Senate is currently in recess while senators continue to negotiate on what the next steps will be in the proceedings. The president is anticipated to be acquitted by the Senate as soon as this evening.

A quorum was called allowing senators the chance to discuss the next steps in the trial.
