The publisher revealed the series from writers Kevin Smith and Eric Carrasco with art and main cover by Nick Pitarra will deliver what the creative team describes as the “definitive, indefinitive” origin of the beloved backward character.
Smith, known for his work on “Green Arrow,” teams with Carrasco, who previously worked on “Supergirl”, to bring what DC promises will be a blend of humor, heart, and high-concept storytelling to a character whose contradictions have made him a fan favorite for decades.
“Me am NOT excited for new comic!” Bizarro said in the announcement. “‘Bizarro: Year None’ am worst thing to happen!”
The series follows Daily Planet photographer Jimmy Olsen and editor Perry White as they embark on an unexpected journey to outer space. Their adventure leads them to a dimension that mirrors Metropolis in strange ways and treats the legendary newspaper as an article of faith.

As Olsen and White unravel the mystery of this bizarre world, they confront the being responsible for creating it. The series explores whether this entity is a misguided Superman admirer, an agent of pure chaos, or something else entirely.
Pitarra, known for his work on “The Manhattan Projects”, brings bold, hyper-detailed artwork to ground the series’ surreal tone, creating a version of Bizarro’s world that the publisher describes as both familiar and unsettling.
The debut issue arrives April 1, 2026, as a 32-page comic priced at $4.99. The series will publish monthly through July. Variant covers for the first issue will be available from Frank Quitely, Fernando Pasarin, and Ibrahim Moustafa, plus a foil variant by Pitarra. Variant covers will be priced at $5.99 for card stock versions and $7.99 for the foil edition.

DC describes the launch date choice of April 1 as fitting for a character defined by contradictions and backwards logic.
The series joins DC’s slate of character-focused limited series exploring origins and untold stories from the publisher’s universe. DC recently announced new ongoing series for Firestorm and Zatanna as part of its 2026 publishing lineup.
Readers can find “Bizarro: Year None” at participating comic book shops and through digital retailers beginning April 1. The DC Universe Infinite digital subscription platform offers access to classic Bizarro stories and appearances featuring Jimmy Olsen and Perry White.
