The nominations highlight the film’s ambitious visual scope, from bringing Superman’s loyal companion Krypto to life with stunning realism, to the epic-scale destruction of Metropolis, to the iconic crystalline Fortress of Solitude.

“Avatar: Fire and Ash” led all films with 10 VES nominations. “Superman” faces competition from major visual effects achievements including “F1,” “The Lost Bus,” “Jurassic World: Rebirth” and “How to Train Your Dragon” in various categories.

The film has also been shortlisted for Sound and Visual Effects at the 98th Academy Awards, placing it among the year’s leading achievements in technical categories. The recognition underscores the scope and ambition of the visual effects work that helped bring Superman’s world to the screen.

Nominees were selected by VES members worldwide through 60 peer-led judging panels across seven global regions. The VES Awards celebrate outstanding visual effects artistry and innovation across film, television, commercials, games and special venue projects.

Winners will be announced at a gala on February 25, 2026, at The Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles.
