MINNEAPOLIS, MN — A man was shot and killed Thursday night in north Minneapolis, and police are searching for the shooter who fled before officers arrived.
Fourth Precinct officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 700 block of Queen Avenue North at approximately 9:21 p.m. on January 8, 2026. Officers found a man with a gunshot wound who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara said investigators are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting. The shooter had left the area before police arrived.
“The loss of a life is always tragic, and my thoughts are with the victim’s family,” O’Hara said. “Our investigators are working to follow leads and bring some sense of justice for the victim and his family.”
Minneapolis forensic scientists processed the scene. No arrests have been made, and the victim’s identity has not been released.
