Director Zack Snyder shared a behind-the-scenes photograph on Thursday showing Henry Cavill wearing Christopher Reeve’s original Superman costume during the 2013 “Man of Steel” casting process.

The image, posted to Snyder’s social media accounts, shows Cavill in the iconic costume worn by Reeve in the 1978 “Superman” film. According to Snyder’s post, the photo was taken as part of testing Cavill’s presence as Superman before officially casting him in the role.

Cavill portrayed Superman in “Man of Steel,” which was released in June 2013, marking a reboot of the Superman film franchise. He went on to reprise the role in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” (2016) and “Justice League” (2017).

The throwback image offers fans a glimpse into the casting process that brought Cavill into one of cinema’s most recognizable roles.
