The Minnesota Wild continued their surge through the first week of December, shutting down the Edmonton Oilers in a 1–0 road win marked by structured defense and another standout performance from goaltender Jesper Wallstedt.
Minnesota struck early, converting the game’s lone goal at 13:11 of the first period. Jonas Brodin stepped into a clean look off a faceoff win by Nico Sturm, beating Edmonton’s netminder with a low, controlled slap shot. The tally held as the decisive moment of a tight, physical matchup.
Wallstedt was the difference throughout. The 22-year-old stopped all 32 shots he faced, securing his fourth shutout in just 10 appearances this season. His composure in traffic and rebound control frustrated Edmonton’s top scorers, who generated chances but failed to convert on key pushes in the second and third periods.
Wild head coach John Hynes credited the effort to the team’s defensive structure and sacrifice, noting their commitment to blocking shots and protecting the slot. Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch said his group played well enough to earn a different result but struggled to finish despite sustained zone pressure.
The win extended Minnesota’s point streak to 12 games (10-0-2), reinforcing its position as one of the league’s most disciplined teams in recent weeks. The Wild continues its road swing later this week.
