City crews in Minneapolis will begin the 2025 fall street sweeping on Tuesday, October 21, covering more than 1,100 miles of streets across the city. The operation is expected to last roughly four weeks.

Street sweeping is part of the city’s twice-yearly effort to keep streets clean, reduce pollutants that flow into storm drains, and improve neighborhood conditions. In spring, crews also sweep nearly 400 miles of alleys.

Residents are reminded to observe posted parking restrictions. Bright pink “street sweeping – no parking” signs will be placed at least 24 hours before a scheduled sweep. Vehicles left on the street from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. may be ticketed or towed.

“Street sweeping is an important step in keeping our neighborhoods safe and protecting our rivers and lakes,” a city spokesperson said.

For maps, schedules, and updates, residents can visit the city’s street sweeping page.
