Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara confirmed that a 21-year-old man was killed and three others were injured during a shooting inside a bar on the 400 block of 4th Street South on October 7, 2025.

Officers from the First Precinct responded to reports of gunfire at approximately 11:40 p.m. Upon arrival, they encountered a large, unruly crowd engaged in physical altercations. Additional units from the Second, Third, and Fifth Precincts, along with deputies from the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office, were called to assist.

Inside the bar, officers located the 21-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite immediate medical aid provided at the scene, the man was pronounced dead. Three others—one man and two women—sustained non-life-threatening gunshot wounds and were transported to Hennepin Healthcare for treatment.

Preliminary reports indicate that a disagreement inside the bar escalated to gunfire. Minneapolis Police Forensic Scientists processed the scene, and MPD investigators are leading the ongoing investigation.

One man was arrested and booked for obstruction, though no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting itself. Chief O’Hara described the incident as “heartbreaking and unacceptable,” urging anyone with information about the shooter to come forward. “An argument inside a crowded bar should never end in gunfire and a loss of life. Our investigators are working to identify everyone involved and hold those responsible accountable,” he said.

The case is listed under number 25-290687. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact MPD at policetips@minneapolismn.gov or call 612-673-5845. 1. First and most importantly, doesn’t this bar even check for guns or even knives before anyone comes into the bar, or do they just not give a damn?
