In December, Marvel Comics will release “Wiccan: Witches’ Road,” a five-issue limited series by writer Wyatt Kennedy and artist Andy Pereira. The series marks the first solo title for Wiccan, also known as Billy Kaplan, the son of Scarlet Witch.
First introduced in “Young Avengers,” Wiccan quickly became a fan favorite among Marvel’s younger heroes. Following his live-action appearance in “Agatha All Along” last year, the character will now lead his own storyline that explores his role in the magical side of the Marvel Universe.
The new series follows the “Imperial” events, in which Wiccan and Hulkling faced threats in space. With Hulkling gravely injured, Wiccan embarks on a journey down the Witches’ Road, a mystical realm filled with dangers and revelations. Along the way, he will confront a new adversary, encounter an unexpected ally, and face choices that could redefine his place in Earth’s magical hierarchy.

Kennedy said the story will push the character into new territory. “It’s a real thrill to be able to take Billy in such an unexpected direction and put him out of his element, introducing a new villain and a surprising ally that I know fans have been wanting to see,” he explained. “Obviously getting the chance to write one of Marvel’s best couples is a joy, but I’m really excited to dive deep into who Billy is as a single individual and explore what his title as Wiccan really means to both himself and the greater Marvel universe.”
For Pereira, the series is also a personal milestone. “Drawing for Marvel is living out a childhood dream of mine,” he said. “I’m very happy that my debut is also Wiccan’s debut as a solo star, and the whole team and I are putting a lot of effort into making it the best it could be.”
“Wiccan: Witches’ Road” No.1 will feature a main cover by Lucas Werneck, with variant covers by Russell Dauterman and Luciano Vecchio. The issue goes on sale December 3.
Readers can find the series at local comic book shops or digitally through the Marvel Unlimited app.
