James Gunn’s “Superman” (2025) has officially arrived on digital platforms, giving audiences a chance to experience the Man of Steel’s latest big-screen adventure from home. The film, which premiered in theaters on July 11 and quickly became one of the summer’s most talked-about releases, is now available for purchase and rental on services such as Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, and Fandango.
The home release comes just over a month after the movie’s theatrical debut. Warner Bros. has set September 23 as the date for physical editions on 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD, which will include behind-the-scenes featurettes, cast interviews, and exclusive footage. Streaming availability on HBO Max is expected to follow later in the fall, likely in early October.
“Superman” marks the start of DC Studios’ new cinematic universe led by Gunn and Peter Safran. Gunn directed and wrote the film, which serves as the first part of the studio’s new collection called “Gods and Monsters.” It features visual effects from top studios like Framestore and ILM, with Stéphane Ceretti as supervisor. The editing was done by William Hoy and Craig Alpert.

David Corenswet stars as Clark Kent, while Rachel Brosnahan plays Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult portrays Lex Luthor. The cast also includes Edi Gathegi as Mr. Terrific, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern Guy Gardner, and Milly Alcock as Supergirl. The film has done well at the box office, earning $217 million globally in its opening weekend and over $585 million by mid-August, likely ending between $620 and $640 million.
This success suggests continued interest in DC’s new direction. A digital release will allow fans to enjoy this movie, which has become a significant milestone for Warner Bros. and DC Studios.
“Superman” will be available for digital purchase on August 15, 2025, after its July 11 theatrical release, priced at $29.99 to buy or $24.99 to rent.
