James Gunn’s “Superman” continues to perform well at the global box office, officially surpassing the $400 million mark in ticket sales this week.
“Superman” earned a total of $406.8 million worldwide after its second weekend, with $235 million from North America and $171.8 million from international markets. Various outlets, including TheWrap, Variety, and Deadline, confirmed these figures, while Forbes noted that the film is projected to finish between $650–700 million, surpassing the estimated break-even point of $400 million.
The film’s strong momentum ranks it among the year’s highest-grossing superhero movies, signaling a solid start for DC Studios’ updated cinematic universe.
Released this summer, “Superman” stars David Corenswet as Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor. It takes a new direction by skipping the usual origin story and placing audiences in a world where Superman is already well-known.
He faces rising threats and moral challenges related to being a hero. Industry analysts report that the film opened with $120 million in the U.S. and earned another $280 million worldwide.

While “Superman” hasn’t hit the billion-dollar mark, its performance is considered a victory for Warner Bros. and DC Studios, especially after recent disappointing releases.
The film’s debut comes during tough competition in the superhero genre, with audiences being more selective about which films to watch.
Its box office success is an important sign for Gunn’s future plans for the DC Universe, enabling several upcoming titles like “Supergirl: The Woman of Tomorrow,” “The Authority,” and “Batman: The Brave and the Bold” to move forward with more confidence.
