‘Godzilla x Kong: Supernova’ now in production

On May 9, Warner Bros. and Legendary unveiled the title, “Godzilla x Kong: Supernova” as the next entry in the MonsterVerse franchise via a brief teaser for the movie.

The teaser didn’t reveal much besides offering confirmation that cameras are now rolling on the project ahead of a March 26, 2027, theatrical release date.

The project is helmed by Grant Sputore (I Am Mother), being penned by scribe Dave Callaham(Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Seven Rings). No official plot details have been revealed besides the story being centered around to focus on “Godzilla and Kong as they face off against a cataclysmic world-ending threat.”

As always, the human cast is back with time around, including actress Kaitlyn Dever (The Last of Us, No One Will Save You, Booksmart), who is set to play the lead. Dever will be joined by Dan Stevens, reprising his role as Trapper from ‘Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire’, rounding out the ensemble are newcomers Jack O’Connell, Matthew Modine, Delroy Lindo, Alycia Debnam-Carey, and Sam Neill.
