Today, in honor of “Superman Day,” a planet-wide celebration and reflection on the creation of the Man of Steel himself, James Gunn, the director and co-CEO of DC Studios, has officially posted a behind-the-scenes feature that showcases a variety of never-before-seen details and elements related to the film, while confessing the character is “hopeful and beautiful.”
The latest snippets of footage offer a sense of hopeful optimism, along with confirmation that the latest DC live-action adaptation was built mainly from the ground up, with a significant focus on and utilization of practical effects, as well as filming on location in various locales across the globe. The footage also offered a brief sample of composer John Murphy’s ‘Superman’ score, which seems to tap into the interstellar and extraterrestrial identity of the hero, but comes full circle with vibrant crescendos of hope and purity.
In addition, the clip also reveals a fully functional Daily Planet set, along with a first official look at the character of Metamorpho in full practical effects and makeup, who will be brought to life by actor Anthony Carrigan. Other props and sets, such as Mr. Terrific’s ship and more of Lex Luthor’s lab, were also teased, most notably the confirmation that Automons were replicated with ample amounts of ease and precision from the panels of the comics.

“Superman” stars David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as star-studded Daily Planet reporter Lois Lane, Skyler Gisondo as photographer Jimmy Olsen, Wendell Pierce as Perry White, Nicholas Hoult as classic antagonist Lex Luthor, Neva Howell as Marhta Kent, Pruitt Taylor Vince as Jonathan “Pa” Kent, Beck Bennett as Steve Lombard, Mikaela Hoover as Cat Grant, and Christopher McDonald as Ron Troupe.
The cast also includes Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Terence Rosemore as Otis, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, and María Gabriela de Faría as The Engineer.
“Superman” flies into theaters on July 11, 2025.
