The Guthrie Theater, a key part of the Minneapolis arts scene, will present Agatha Christie’s classic murder mystery, “The Mousetrap.”
Directed by Tracy Brigden, this longest-running play in history will engage audiences from March 15 to May 18 on the McGuire Proscenium Stage. Tickets are available now, giving fans of suspense and intrigue the opportunity to experience the “Queen of Crime” at her best.
Set against the backdrop of a snowstorm at Monkswell Manor, the play follows newlyweds Mollie and Giles Ralston as they host a diverse group of guests. Among them is a detective on skis and an unexpected rogue.
When a mysterious murder from London is linked to the manor, a tense game of deduction ensues. With its blend of humor, suspense, and shocking revelations, “The Mousetrap” promises to keep audiences on the edge of their seats.
Director Tracy Brigden aims to deliver a visually stunning and high-caliber production, creating an experience that Guthrie audiences will treasure. “
This play makes you laugh, it makes you scared, it makes you surprised, and it leaves you feeling satisfied,” Brigden shared.
The production features a stellar cast, including Matthew Amendt as Detective Sergeant Trotter and Mo Perry as Mrs. Boyle, alongside a creative team renowned for their craftsmanship. Brigden, the Guthrie’s Senior Artistic Producer, brings decades of directing expertise to this iconic tale, ensuring it will both honor Christie’s legacy and feel fresh for contemporary audiences.
In addition to the performances, the Guthrie Theater will host a Mystery Play Club, beginning March 25, where participants can delve into classic scripts. Post-play discussions and accessible performances, including ASL-interpreted and audio-described shows, further enrich the experience for theatergoers.
