Matthew Lillard joins ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ season 2

Today, Deadline reported that Matthew Lillard, known for “Scream 7” and “Five Nights At Freddy’s,” is joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in “Daredevil: Born Again’s” second season. Production will start next week in New York City.

The casting is the latest news. It was reported earlier that the second season will have eight episodes and is slated to premiere in 2026. 

The trade noted and revealed that character details regarding Lillard’s role are kept “under lock and key.” This means it’s highly likely that, as production goes on and set photos become public, potential details about the sophomore season could shed some light on Lillard’s character and first appearance in the shared continuity. 


In Marvel Television’s “Daredevil: Born Again,” Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox), a blind lawyer with heightened abilities, is fighting for justice through his bustling law firm, while former mob boss Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) pursues his political endeavors in New York. Both men find themselves on an inevitable collision course when their past identities begin to emerge. 

The show also stars Margarita Levieva, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Zabryna Guevara, Nikki James, Genneya Walton, Arty Froushan, Clark Johnson, Michael Gandolfini, with Ayelet Zurer and Jon Bernthal. Dario Scardapane is on board as showrunner.

The episodes are directed by Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead, Michael Cuesta, Jeffrey Nachmanoff, and David Boyd. The executive producers are Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Brad Winderbaum, Sana Amanat, Chris Gary, Dario Scardapane, Christopher Ord & Matthew Corman, and Justin Benson & Aaron Moorhead.

Marvel Television’s “Daredevil: Born Again” officially lands on Disney+ this Wednesday, March 4, with a two-episode premiere.
