Skeleton Crew’ deleted scene reveals Jod Na Nawood’s Jedi Master

1 min read

In a deleted flashback scene, Jod Na Nawood’s Jedi Master was to be shown in “Skeleton Crew.”

Actress Yasmine Al Massri revealed on an Instagram post that she portrayed Jod Na Nawood’s Jedi Master. There was several photos of her dressed up in Jedi robes and wielding a lightsaber.

“This was the shortest acting job I have done but the most meaningful to the child in me. Playing a Jedi for one scene in Skeleton Crew.” Al Masri wrote in the Instagram post. “I gave a speech when the crew wrapped on set saying; ‘you just created the first Arab female Jedi.”

The actress would add that the scene would not make it to the final cut but nonetheless, the actress stated that she was grateful for the experience.

“The scene unfortunately didn’t make it to the finale cut because these things happen but, I cannot share me and feelings. Even Liam rehearsed that scene with me and I got to brad about it with his friends which got my coolest mom respect for a moment,” she wrote.

The creators behind “Skeleton Crew,” Jon Watts and Christopher Ford,  talked about the flashback scene of Jod’s childhood being trained by the unnamed Jedi Master in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. Ford explained that he cut the flashback scene due to wanting to keep the show in the perspective of the kids of the ‘Skeleton Crew.”

“The challenge though was, as fascinating as Jod is, we always wanted to keep it from the kids’ perspective,” said Ford.  “The kids are like, ‘I don’t understand this guy.’ They’ve never been out in the galaxy and met someone as damaged as him. So I don’t think we could have done a flashback in this season.”

A flashback scene of Jod’s childhood would have been interesting to see as it would give viewers a perspective to how broken the character of Jude Law’s Jod Na Nawood is.

It is possible that Jod’s backstory could be explored in the rumored second season or perhaps in animation like “Tales of the Jedi.”

Skeleton Crew is now streaming on Disney+.
