I am not the same person I was before I watched this film. I was not expecting anything to happen.
“Transformers One” departs from the franchise’s tone, offering a captivating prequel that shows the origins of Optimus Prime and Megatron. This animated film delivers a visually stunning and emotionally resonant experience that left me both entertained and deeply moved.
I’m used to the moody tone of the Bayverse films and seeing Optimus Prime as a regular Cog, i was caught off guard because that is not how i imagined him as a leader, at all. He is reckless bot with a good heart. But the film’s all about that. “Transformers One’s” greatest strength lies in its character development. Far from the archetypal heroes and villains we’ve come to expect, Optimus Prime and Megatron are presented as complex individuals grappling with their own identities and destinies. Their journey from close friends to bitter rivals is a poignant exploration of themes like loyalty, ambition, and the corrupting influence of power. The writing is exceptional, transforming these iconic figures into relatable characters whose stories resonate on a personal level.
Every Character feels morally layered, so despite not agreeing with their methods, we may agree with their motivations. Megatron’s anger took over his capacity to rationalize, but he was also right, which is a complexity I crave in stories.
The world-building is equally impressive. The film’s stunning animation brings the planet Cybertron to life, creating a visually captivating and immersive experience. The intricate details of Cybertronian society and culture are seamlessly woven into the narrative, offering a rich and detailed backdrop for the characters’ adventures.

The action sequences are nothing short of mind-blowing. The film’s battles are not just eye-candy but serve to advance the plot and develop the characters. The animation is so detailed and lifelike that it’s a joy to watch, with every clash and explosion feeling visceral and impactful.
The pacing is perfectly balanced, with comedic moments that lighten the mood without sacrificing the overall narrative. The film’s structure is expertly crafted, seamlessly integrating world-building elements like the mining scene and the IACON 5000 tournament. This ensures that the story never feels rushed or stagnant, keeping the pace engaging throughout.
The plot is engaging despite being predictable. The film offers a satisfying prequel experience that sets the stage for future installments while also standing on its own as a complete story.
The visuals are simply breathtaking, making this a film that deserves to be seen on the biggest screen possible. The animation is so detailed and lifelike that it’s a joy to watch, with every frame a feast for the eyes. The film’s use of color and lighting creates a stunning atmosphere that enhances the storytelling. The action sequences, IACON 5000, and history lesson particularly seemed marvelous on the big screen and might have been the most difficult to animate. I can simply watch the film multiple times for the VFX and animation alone.

The soundtrack is another highlight, perfectly complementing the film’s tone and mood. The music is both epic and intimate, enhancing the emotional impact of the story.
The voice acting is top-notch, with Chris Hemsworth and Scarlett Johansson delivering powerful performances as Orion Pax and Elita-1, respectively. The rest of the cast also does an excellent job bringing their characters to life.
Josh Cooley does a phenomenal job making the film, and I really love how it feels funny yet dark at the same time. The screenplay by Eric Pearson, Andrew Barrer, and Gabriel Ferrari is another standout aspect of “Transformers One.” Their ability to craft a complex and engaging story while maintaining a sense of humor and heart is impressive. The dialogue is sharp and witty, and the characters feel fully realized.
Overall, “Transformers One” is a must-see for any Transformers fan. It offers a fresh perspective on the franchise and a compelling origin story. The film’s blend of humor, action, and character development makes it a standout entry in the Transformers universe. It’s a visually stunning and emotionally resonant film that will leave a lasting impression.

I was pleasantly surprised by the film’s grandeur. It’s not just fun but also incredibly epic and crazy. As a newcomer to the larger franchise, I was deeply moved by the story and am eager to explore both the film universe and the original animated series.
