Law enforcement authorities have identified the man who made an assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump at a rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has disclosed that the deceased perpetrator of the shooting incident has been identified as Thomas Matthew Crooks, a 20-year-old individual from Bethel Park, Pennsylvania.
According to records uncovered by the F.B.I., Crooks, a registered Republican, contributed to the Democrat-aligned ActBlue organization on the day of President Biden’s inauguration.
Crooks’ father, who spoke with CNN, says he is trying to find out “what the hell is going on” and will “wait until I talk to law enforcement” before saying more.
A former classmate told CNN, “He didn’t seem really weird or anything. I would have pegged him as a Republican.”
“He was more of a loner. He probably had a friend group, but not many friends,” they added.
Crooks was wearing a shirt from Demolition Ranch, a gun YouTube channel. Law enforcement said the weapon used by Crooks was an AK-47, an assault rifle used in a large number of mass shootings.
The victim who was killed at Trump’s Pennsylvania rally has been identified as the former fire chief for Buffalo Township, Corey Comperatore.

“The PA Trump Rally claimed the life of my brother, Corey Comperatore. The hatred for one man took the life of the one man we loved the most. He was a hero who shielded his daughters. His wife and girls just lived through the unthinkable and unimaginable,” his sister said on Facebook. “My baby brother just turned 50 and had so much life left to experience. Hatred has no limits, and love has no bounds. Please pray for my sister-in-law, nieces, my mother, sister, me, and his nieces and nephews, as this feels like a terrible nightmare, but we know it is our painful reality.”
To date, the Federal Bureau of Investigation has not yet determined a motive for the shooting incident.
