As we await seeing the Man of Steel grace our silver screens again, it’s hard to fathom that it’ll be at least 11 years, well, 12 by the time Superman lands in theaters next year.
I respect and admire Director James Gunn’s vision. Now, I confess a few things I want to see brought forth and showcased, such as the daily routine of the Daily Planet staff and the hustle and ethics of being a reporter.
Well, also, to put it another way, I feel the CW’s “Superman & Lois” have done a great job of showing humility and justification of inspiration. With that being said, I think that Gunn will nail the tonal balance between the intrepid reporters Lois, Clark, and Jimmy and the hero wearing bright red underwear with a costume pieced and patched together from the love and compassion of a mother.
It’s such a strange thing to confess, but I always found the character of Superman to be an extension of humanity and the moral value of being able to stand on your own two feet and find inner confidence. The character is one I have always respected and found an attachment towards, from a similar upbringing to feeling like you don’t belong in the family you were born into to the moments of feeling out of place. However, the beauty and glory of the beacon and embodiment of hope is one we all yearn to be.
So, it is surreal to know and relish that a solo Superman film will be back, with hopefully an art-deco-inspired golden radiance of Metropolis acting as the perfect canvas for the burgeoning charisma of one of the greatest heroes and fictional IPs.
Fans and audiences find themselves in an ideal enigma, but hopefully, it’s one of promise and fascination.
I believe in James Gunn; hopefully, he can deliver
