In February 2014, inspired by decades of the Daily Planet’s vividly documented history, I started @DailyPlanetDC on Twitter. Since I first witnessed Lois’ journalistic strides in the pages of Action Comics and on the series “Smallville,” I’ve wanted to be a journalist at the Daily Planet

In an effort to make that dream a reality, I started the multimedia platform originally constructed around fandom. @DailyPlanetDC is an “unofficial” handle for the Daily Planet in the real world. It’s very interactive, allowing outside work to be published on a variety of social media feeds accumulating over 20,000 followers.

I strive to allow others with similar dreams a chance to express their creativity while reporting on the planet, daily on a well established online outlet.

A decade of Daily 10 years ago, today, our difital news source was born as a role-play account inspired by Superman. Over time it grew into a multimedia news organization that has published hundreds of online editions and digital magazines, imortalized countless stories, and so much more. The Daily Planet is where heroes are born and the story continues. Catch our full story in a documentary this summer. #superman #minneapolis #minnesota #hibbing #loislane #twincitiesnews

With the popularity, and positive communal reception of the initial account, I launched the official website on Oct. 7, 2018.

The Planet’s notability continued to grow when it snagged its first high profile interview on April 11, 2019: an exclusive with “Justice League” voice actress Susan Eisenberg known for voicing Wonder Woman. Since then, the Planet has interviewed actors Alex Garfin and Jordan Elsass from “Superman & Lois.”

What started as a college student’s passion for journalistic integrity soon grew into a community news organization that stretched across the planet. By 2020 the twitter had grown to over 20,000 followers, and the site had retained dozens of contributing writers, podcasters and content creators around the world.

By 2024, momentum for legitimizing the planet into an actual multimedia news organization had grown. Here’s to our next 10 years.
