Milly Alcock, who plays Rhaenyra Targaryen in HBO’s “Game of Thrones” prequel “House of the Dragon,” is set to star as Superman’s cousin Kara Zor-El in “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.”

Alcock is expected to debut as Kara in “Superman: Legacy” before her own solo film, according to The Wrap, which first reported the casting. DC Studios Co-creative head James Gunn confirmed the news on Instagram.
“Milly is a fantastically talented young actor, and I’m incredibly excited about her being a part of the DCU,” Gunn wrote on Instagram. “Yes, I first became aware of her in ‘House of the Dragon’ but I was blown away by her varied auditions and screen tests for Supergirl. She embodies Kara as envisioned by Tom King, Bilquis Evely and Ana Nogueira.”
Alcock’s Supergirl joins David Corenswet as Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, María Gabriela de Faría as The Engineer, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen and Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher.
Supergirl’s solo movie “Superman: Woman of Tomorrow” is based on the comics of the same name. “Superman: Legacy” is slated for a July 2024 release.
