This is wild to me, and I couldn’t be more happy for the students from my hometown. “Wonka” and “Dune” actor Timothee Chalamet took to the storied halls of my hometown castle to support local actors while studying for an upcoming part in a biopic.
As a former Hibbingite, I’m well aware of the presence Bob Dylan has in the Northern Minnesota hamlet. This mining town in the Northwoods has held onto a huge claim to fame — being the hometown of the music legend and Nobel Peace Prize winner.
Today, I opened Facebook and never felt more envious. Famed actor Chalamet was sitting in the beautiful auditorium I once loitered in growing up, sometimes deridingly. He was there to learn more about Dylan, but he was also there showing support for teen actors involved in an upcoming play titled “The Girl in the White Pinafore.”
Chalamet is poised to play Dylan (my grandma’s former classmate, I might add) in an upcoming biopic about the Minnesota singer. Maybe there will be a background performer modeled after my late grandmother? That would be fun.
