When it comes to superhero movies, casting news always gets fans talking. The recent reveal by Deadline that Nicholas Hoult snagged the role of Lex Luthor in James Gunn’s upcoming Superman Legacy had everyone buzzing.
While the spotlight was on María Gabriela de Faría’s casting as The Engineer, the studio had quite the hustle in finding their Lex Luthor, especially after the SAG-AFTRA strike. Hoult’s previous work with Warner Bros. in “Juror No. 2” probably put him on their radar.
What’s intriguing is that Hoult had actually auditioned for Superman in the same film but didn’t get the part. He also tried for Batman in “The Batman” but lost out to Robert Pattinson. Now, David Corenswet will be Superman, teaming up with Rachel Brosnahan’s Lois Lane.
Lex Luthor has been portrayed by big names like Gene Hackman, Kevin Spacey, and Jesse Eisenberg in the past Superman starrer films. Gunn took his time, choosing Corenswet and Brosnahan after thorough auditions.
“Superman: Legacy,” is scheduled to hit screens worldwide on July 11, 2025. This movie is a big part of Warner Bros.’ new superhero movie plans laid out by Gunn and producer Peter Safran earlier this year
So, as we gear up for this release, fans are excited to see how Nicholas Hoult will bring the iconic villain Lex Luthor to life in a new chapter of Superman’s story on the big screen.
