WHO declares monkeypox a global health emergency


An emergency committee from the World Health Organization (WHO) has named the monkeypox outbreak, currently spreading in non-endemic countries, a “public health emergency of international concern” with over 16,000 cases found in 75 countries, including five deaths.

Global jobs market recovery ‘has gone into reverse,’ warns UN labour agency


In its latest update on the world of work, International Labour Organization Director-General Guy Ryder said that although there had been “tentative signs of recovery in the final months of last year, with global employment returning to higher levels in industrialised nations”, rising food and fuel prices and financial turbulence have destabilised the job market.
