DC Comics has announced an exciting lineup for the “Summer of Superman” event, which celebrates the Man of Steel in grand fashion. This initiative coincides with the release of James Gunn’s highly anticipated Superman movie, promising a summer filled with new stories and adventures for fans of all ages.

The celebration begins with “Action Comics” No. 1085, written by G. Willow Wilson and illustrated by Gavin Guidry. This issue concludes the “Superman Superstars” storyline, in which Superman faces off against a scientist who claims to have resolved the global warming crisis at a significant cost.

‘Summer of Superman Special’ no.1 (April 16)
On Superman Day, April 18, DC Comics will release “Summer of Superman Special” No. 1. This oversized one-shot features a story by Mark Waid, Dan Slott, and Joshua Williamson, with art by Jorge Jiménez. The story centers around the wedding of John Henry Irons (Steel) and Lana Lang, as old friends gather and new threats emerge.

Just a week later, “Superman” No. 25 will feature the return of Lex Luthor, who intends to take control of Supercorp, the organization central to Williamson’s run on Superman. The issue will be illustrated by Dan Mora, Eddy Barrows, and Eber Ferreira.

‘Superman Unlimited’ no.1 (May 21)
The adventure continues with “Superman Unlimited” No. 1, written by Dan Slott and illustrated by Rafael Albuquerque. Slott introduces bold concepts to the series, including a global spread of green Kryptonite and a new employee at the Daily Planet from Gorilla City.

‘Superman: The World’ (June)
In June, DC Comics will publish “Superman: The World,” a global anthology featuring international stories from leading creators. This graphic novel will examine Superman’s influence around the world.

‘Superman’ (July 11)
“Superman,” DC Studios’ first feature film to hit the big screen, is set to soar into theaters worldwide this summer from Warner Bros. Pictures.
In his signature style, James Gunn takes on the original superhero in the newly imagined DC universe with a singular blend of epic action, humor and heart, delivering a Superman who’s driven by compassion and an inherent belief in the goodness of humankind.
DC Studios heads Peter Safran and Gunn are producing the film, which Gunn directs from his own screenplay, based on characters from DC, Superman created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster.
The film stars David Corenswet (“Twisters,” “Hollywood”) in the dual role of Superman/Clark Kent, Rachel Brosnahan (“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”) as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult (the “X-Men” movies, “Juror #2”) as Lex Luthor. The film also stars Edi Gathegi (“For All Mankind”), Anthony Carrigan (“Barry,” “Gotham”), Nathan Fillion (the “Guardians of the Galaxy” films, “The Suicide Squad”), Isabela Merced (“Alien Romulus”), Skyler Gisondo (“Licorice Pizza,” “Booksmart”), Sara Sampaio (“At Midnight”), María Gabriela de Faría (“The Moodys”), Wendell Pierce (“Selma,” “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan”), Alan Tudyk (“Andor”), Pruitt Taylor Vince (“Bird Box”) and Neva Howell (“Greedy People”).
“Superman” is executive produced by Nikolas Korda, Chantal Nong Vo and Lars Winther.
Behind the camera, Gunn is joined by frequent collaborators, including director of photography Henry Braham, production designer Beth Mickle, costume designer Judianna Makovsky and composer John Murphy, along with editors Craig Alpert (“Deadpool 2,” “Blue Beetle”), Jason Ballantine (the “IT” films, “The Flash”) and William Hoy (“The Batman”).
“Superman” will be in theaters and IMAX nationwide on July 11, 2025.
The “Summer of Superman” event will be an exciting celebration of one of the most iconic superheroes ever. Fans can expect a summer filled with new stories, epic battles, and unforgettable moments.
