The Daily Planet Lobby serves as the central hub for information and community in Minneapolis. It is a vibrant space where people move around a miniature globe, similar to the one on the rooftop, while engaging with the information hub. This lobby connects the city to the newsroom and bullpen offices, fostering an open-door policy that ensures we remain accessible and connected, regardless of distance or other barriers.
Inside the lobby, you’ll find the New Stand, which features products from local vendors, as well as the Daily Planet Museum that archives our history and all the stories produced by the organization. Additionally, the lobby will host various local shops and communal spaces, providing free areas for people to work and connect.
Visitors can access elevators and public stairs from the lobby that lead to the renowned rooftop, topped with a globe and the newsroom above. The lobby will also include built-in phone booths equipped with functioning public phones, device charging stations, and first aid kits. These booths will also provide great opportunities for photos.
The lobby will also offer supervised amenities for unhoused individuals to use during business hours to create a welcoming environment for everyone.
