“Titans” season 3, episode 9, titled “Souls,” has premiered, and it confirms that the newest season of “Titans” has no idea where it’s going. Like the characters in this episode, “Souls” felt lost and like a narrative block, rather than a necessary stop on the journey.
MoreIt’s clear to see “Titans” season 3 has hit a slump with episode 8, and it’s getting hard to see if the series can or will recover from the troubled exposition. The most recent installment of the series was titled “Home”, however, the story and direction felt utterly incoherent and out of place. A noticeable flaw that does weigh the series down from reaching its true potential.
Season 3 of “Titans” is starting to slow down, and reveal one of the main problems from past seasons. There’s no focus. While we did get some much-needed teamwork in this episode, there’s still so much left on the drawing room table.
Season 3, episode 6 of “Titans,” titled “Lady Vic,” is yet another solid episode to add to this season’s repertoire. While it’s not a perfect episode, it gives more background to a beloved character and starts to establish a new character’s place in the Titans family. Season 3, Episode 5 of “Titans,” titled “Lazarus,” gives the viewers a deep dive into the psyche of Jason Todd and the origin of the Red Hood. It is a great flashback episode because it doesn’t feel like it’s breaking the show’s pace. Instead, more insight is given on a crucial player in “Titans,” Jason Todd, his fear, and the wrong path he took to conquer it. This episode also operates as a great character study and a deeper examination of Jason and Bruce’s relationship.
Episode four of “Titans” finally introduces the long-anticipated character, Blackfire, but it ultimately feels like a filler episode in terms of the story. Aptly titled “Blackfire,” episode four sets up storylines for both Starfire and Nightwing to explore going forward in season three.
