MnDOT to close Hwy 14 turn lane at Eagle Lake

1 min read

MANKATO— As part of an ongoing safety evaluation, the Minnesota Department of Transportation will indefinitely close the existing left turn lane from eastbound Highway 14 to northbound Blue Earth County Road 27, on the east side of Eagle Lake, during the week of November 20.  The turn lane is being closed to address a continued pattern of crashes caused by motorists using the turn lane.

Eastbound Highway 14 motorists intending to access northbound County Road 27 will be directed to the existing median U-Turn on the east side of the intersection, via revised signing.  Tubular markers will also be installed along the edge of the left through lane to prevent use of the left turn lane.

The left turn lane from westbound Highway 14 to southbound County Road 17 will remain open at this time.  MnDOT staff will continue to monitor the westbound turn lane to ensure continued satisfactory safety performance.
