US House delivers article of impeachment to the Senate

On Monday evening, US House impeachment managers formally presented the article of impeachment against former president Donald Trump to the Senate for his role in inciting the Capitol insurrection that occurred on January 6.

The House voted to impeach Trump for the second time on January 13 and the Senate is expected to begin its trial on February 8. The article of impeachment was read by impeachment manager Rep. Jamie Raskin. Trump’s trial is expected to start the week of February 8.

“The article of impeachment for incitement of insurrection by Donald Trump will be delivered to the Senate on Monday, January 25,” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said. “Our Constitution and our country are well served by the extraordinary leadership of Lead Manager Jamie Raskin, and Representatives Diana DeGette, David Cicilline, Joaquin Castro, Eric Swalwell, Ted Lieu, Stacey Plaskett, Madeleine Dean and Joe Neguse.”
